Robert Chernick, BSc(Hons) Ost Med DO ND

Robert Chernick is a registered Osteopath who qualified from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004 with a first class BSc Honours Degree in Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to becoming an Osteopath he gained a BSc Honours Degree in Sports Science and Physiology from the University of Leeds. He has been practicing from the Osteopathic Health Centre since 2004 and also practices from the Natural Health Clinic, South Manchester.

During his studies in Leeds he became a Personal Trainer and Sport Massage Therapist and worked as a Registered Exercise Professional in North and Central London. His main areas of interest and specialities are in the fields of exercise prescription and biomechanics, core stability and postural imbalances causing recurrent low back pain. Robert actively participates in sport and has a genuine interest in health and fitness and how the body works both mechanically and physiologically. He applies his expertise to find and treat the cause of his patient’s problem and not just the symptoms.

Robert is qualified as a Western Medical Acupuncturist and is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.

Continual Professional Development (CPD)

2012: As part of his professional development Robert attended a series of orthopaedic update lectures at Southport & Ormskirk NHS Hospital which gave him an invaluable insight into the assessment and care of spinal, shoulder, hip and knee injuries ( for example, slipped disc, frozen shoulder, arthritic conditions and ligament damage.) This has given Robert a greater overview in patient management and the roles of different types of intervention such as manual therapy, pain relieving medications and surgical procedures.

Recently, Robert has been reviewing complex nerve problems associated with degenerative change to the lumbar spine and is developing a series of YouTube clips with osteopathic colleagues on common low back complaints. He is furthering his knowledge in Medical Acupuncture at a course on Acupuncture & Women's Health and will also attend courses in Kinesiology taping and first aid.
