Gemma Irvine, MSc(Hons) Ost Med DO ND

Gemma Irvine graduated in 2005 with first class honours, from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine, London. She moved to Manchester and worked in a variety of clinics across the North West before joining the Osteopathic Health Centre in 2006.

Whilst she enjoys working with patients of all ages, her area of speciality is with babies, children and pregnant women. In 2009 she completed a Masters degree in paediatric osteopathy. This involved working at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in Manchester, with some of the top paediatric osteopaths in the country. She has been involved in working with premature babies in the neonatal intensive care unit at North Middlesex Hospital.

Gemma’s approach to treatment is a combination of both structural and cranial techniques. She is keen to educate patients about their own condition and ways they can help themselves to promote recovery.

Continual Professional Development (CPD)

Regularly attends Cheshire CPD meeting with other osteopathic colleagues. These include lectures by leading consultants and discussions of difficult/unusual cases with her professional peers.

2007-09: Masters in paediatric osteopathy involving detailed and intensive study of the birth process, common conditions in babies and children and various systems such as digestive problems, immune function, cardiovascular and orthopaedics.

2014: Gemma says, "I've recently been thinking more about how stress is often involved in the causation and maintenance of back pain. I have therefore decided to do a mindfulness course to help people change the way they think about experiences and in turn reduce anxiety. Other activities I have planned include a first aid course, acupressure for labour and in house meetings on different topics with my colleagues at The Osteopathic Health Centre."
